Redesign of both cover and layout, of Danish magazine “Mad & Bolig” (Food & Living), as part of marketing the magazine for a younger audience.
The old magazine was one big mess, so I made it more cohesive by “branding” the articles and sections, using colour schemes and article logos. I also made it easier to navigate, by sectioning the content by topic and simplifying the table of contents.
I made the magazine look younger by making more use of white space, using less and edgier font families and designing with a “less is more” approach.
I wanted potential readers to be able to relate to the cover better, so the biggest change I made, was having people on it. That, and using more characteristic fonts gives the magazine personality, and differentiate it from it's competitors. Also, I got rid of the ever annoying splash. You could probably argue it's importance as a sales tool, but hey, i'm a designer not a salesman, and that splash is just too big and ugly.
